'By Sea & Lake' Walking Trail

The natural beauty of Adelaide's sandy foreshore and the engineering genius of people have combined to provide a stunning walk through Tennyson and West Lakes.

'By Sea and Lake' is a walk that winds its way along the beach and the West Lakes lake taking in the beauty of the natural and purpose-built environments.

The walk starts at Trimmer Parade car park. From there, cross Military Road and walk along Audrey Street until you reach the beach, then head north along the foreshore until you come across Escort House. Just prior to reaching this historic building you can explore Adelaide’s last remaining sand dune systems (please keep to the path!).

At the northern end of Escort House, follow the track that runs from the beach onto Escort Road which meets Military Road soon after. Carefully cross Military Road then walk along the lake in front of the Rowing & Aquatic Centre until you reach a lane way that joins The Annie Watt Circuit.

Once reaching the northern end of the circuit, take the path that proceeds under the West Lakes Boulevard bridge then follow the boulevard until Island Drive where you turn left. Continue along Island Drive until you see a pathway with a chain across it. This
pathway will take you around the Duck Pond (toilets are also located here).

Follow the lake and waterways in a clockwise direction until you join Corcoran Drive which will return you to West Lakes Boulevard. Turn left onto the boulevard, cross the bridge, then take the path that travels under the bridge. Proceed along the lake passing
West Lakes Mall and once reaching the fence, follow it to Beeston Way where you need to rejoin the street until a pathway between number 7 and number 9 Beeston Way.

Rejoin the lake and follow the path until it reaches Trimmer Parade and hence, the car park where you started.

This walk suits the more experienced walkers keen to challenge their limits with a walk that's gentle to the eye.
